Anyone else having issues with iPhone’s Messages app? Mine keeps freezing (iPhone 13, iOS 17.5.1)

Anyone else having issues with iPhone’s Messages app (green message bubble)?

Mine keeps freezing, locking &/or bumping me out.

I have an iPhone 13, updated to iOS 17.5.1.

When I try to access the Messages app, or type a new message, the screen either freezes & locks or glitches & bumps me out. Or, if I do manage to type a text, it then either delays sending or won’t send at all.

I’ve tried turning my phone off/on again, restarted it, gone into Settings-Messages-iMessages & turned off/on again & same with Settings-Mobile Data. Tried most suggestions listed so far. We have Fixed Wireless, our router’s firmware is up to date, I have plenty of data & there’s no issues/outages with our service provider.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I had the exact same problem yesterday and I restored my phone using my MacBook to reinstall the OS.

This afternoon my wife started having the same problem.

Thinking it is a server side problem on Apple’s end.

Noticed this issue today even though I’ve been on iOS 17.5.1 since it came out. I took the advice of other apple discussion threads.

i signed out of iCloud accounts on my iPhone 13 Pro running 17.5.1 then did a device restart.

My messages app after signing back into iCloud has been working moving out of app and back in. Also no more slow blue bar when sending simple iMessage or prompts to retry (with lag) or Send as text message.

had to do this for all iPhone in my household so we can all iMessage each other without delay.

thank goodness for Apple wallet remembering previous cards as I just needed to verify each card’s CVV

back in business now
