How to transfer photos from my iPod to my MacBook?

Over the weekend I found my old iPod nano 4th generation and a charging cord. Once I charged it, I found about 300 photos on it, that I don’t have on any other device. Is there a way to transfer those photos to my Mac Book Air laptop? I’ve spent a few hours but can’t figure it out.
