How do I get my video to play on screen while I am playing a game?

We do not know which News app you use on your device, so can not check whether that feature is still availble.

Eg: If it is a third-party (non-Apple)app, there may be an update for that News app available in the App Store.

Ummm seems you are using an iPod with iOS 12 for viewing news ?

You might want to check if the iOS can be updated to a newer version (including Apple News if you use that).

Eg: Try Settings > General > Software Updates to see if an update is available.
