Can I watch an iMovie, that was transferred to a flash drive, on a TV?

If iMovie is transferred to flash drive, can it be watched on a tv? Or do I have to make it into a disc and play it on a dvd player?

If you Export the movie to MPEG4 (MP4) and your TV supports that format, yes, you should be able to watch it on your TV from the flash drive. In the Export dialog, you can even export directly to the flash drive.

Other than selecting MPEG4, it's best to leave the other options at their defaults. In particular, do not choose "Best Quality" as that will generate a QuickTime .mov file using ProRes ... which is unlikely to be compatible with any TV.

Hi,

The easiest way is to play the movie on your desk top or iPhone, and use the mirroring feature on your device to mirror the movie on your TV screen. On older TV’s you would need Apple TV to make the mirror connection but I believe the newer TV’s have the built in capability to mirror.

Another way is to put your movie on a thumb drive that is formatted ExFat. Then plug it into your TV. You should be able to play the movie on it. No guarantees, of course.

You can also plug your Mac into the TV with a HDMI cable, and then play the movie on your desk top and it will mirror on the TV screen.
