Why does my iPad Pro M4 not charge when connected to the Magic Keyboard?
I got a new iPad Pro M4 (10”) with an associated Magic Keyboard (replacing an older iPad Air with its Magic Keyboard), and have found two items that seem a problem.
- When my iPad is connected to the keyboard (no charging cable), and I then plug in the charging cable to the keyboard, all looks good. “However”, if the iPad is not connected to the keyboard but the charging cable is already in the keyboard, once I attach the iPad to the Keyboard, the iPad does not charge. If I unplug and replug the power cable into the keyboard, charging works fine. On my older iPad Air, if I attached the iPad to its keyboard, it would just start charging.
- I have set my iPad to only charge to 80%. When the iPad charge reaches 80%, and I am doing some typing on the keyboard (like composing an email), the screen keyboard will sometimes “pop up” for 1/2 second, then disappear for 1/2 second, then reappear, then disappear, etc. The only way I have found to stop it is to either detach the iPad from the keyboard, or unplug the power from the keyboard.
If anyone has any thoughts on how I might address these issues, I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
