iMovie 10 Ducking doesn't work
Ducking often does not work in iMovie 10.1.12. After many tries, sometimes it works.
Is there a way to make it work consistently?
Mac Pro, macOS 10.15

I found a thread where this problem is presented in 2013.

There exactly zero responses. I am interpreting this to indicate this a problem that has affected users globally, and never resolved.
Hi,
I am running iMovie 10.1.12 on Mojave. The ducking worked fine on the couple of tries that I made.
You might try deleting/resetting preferences and see if that cures your issue. To delete/reset preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see of the ducking works consistently. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
