Based on info above, Apple supports A-series CPUs for iPads for around 8 years since the first debut. So, Apple A8, first debuted in 2014, found in 2015’s iPad mini 4, received software updates until 2022.

So, 2020’s iPad 8th gen, which has A12 Bionic, debuted in 2018, likely will support software updates until 2026, based on 8-year support timeframe.

Apple does not pre-announce end of update support for any of its devices.

However, for iPad, history demonstrates that iPad generally receiving System Software updates for five to seven years from initial release of a product model.

As such, with the iPad8 being released in 2020, you might reasonably anticipate receiving iPadOS updates up to (and perhaps beyond) 2025. The current release for all compatible iPads is iPadOS 17.5.
