Don't ask me how, but I bought an App called "Imoviemaker". I had never seen iMovie before and thought this was it. I paid for it. I then started asking questions to this group because it wasn't functioning as I expected. A couple of responses led me to believe that I had been conned. I then downloaded the real "iMovie" and everything is ok now. I think I fell for it because I was very tired at the time.

I always thought that iMovie was free?
Normally you go to the App Store and open the account used to purchase the computer.
iMovie should be under "Purchases" to download for free.
Was it on the app store?
It can happen to anybody.
As long as it was just your money and not your identity or computer credentials, you got off cheap.
Yeah, I have been bit by that, too in a sense. Do a search on how do something in iMovie, and you get instructions for Filmora.
Not a bad program, and it does more than iMovie - I had to get it to blur some faces - but not free, and some deceptive marketing practices.
I guess this is what the OP saw . . . obviously intended to deceive.
This is what you actually get when you click on it . . . no more mention of "iMoviemaker"!
Where did you buy your iMovie from?
I was conned. I have now got the correct iMovie from the Apple Store.
Could you provide more details so I can inform the community what happened so we can warn others?
