Forgetting ICloud password
If I had forgotten my Apple ID password but still had the password for my phone would I be able to sign out?

Nope, you will need your Apple ID password to sign out on your device. If you forgot your Apple ID Password, then you have 3 options to reset it.

It would not be good idea to be able to sign out your Apple ID, just by using the login passcode. A thief could watch you enter your Passcode, then grab your phone and log out your Apple ID and the phone would then be theirs without you having the option to track it with Find My.
