Problems with screenshot with Logitech MX Master 3 mouse with new M3 MacBook Pro

Previously, I had an old MacBook Pro (2017) with a Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse, taking screenshots was a breeze.

However, I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro M3, and, I am having a problem with taking a screenshot!

I would open a picture or document on my desktop, I would use the the mouse to take a screenshot. However, it would only take a screenshot of the desktop background!!!

How do I resolve this??

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.1

I think I found the problem on my Mac ... bear in mind this is a new Mac that the screen grab was failing on ... there is a default setting of "off" on the "Screen & System Audio Recording" settings for Logi Options, and it needs to be turned to "on". I suspect an upgrade of the OS might also default to "off" - not sure about that, but if this problem recently began for you, check this and it might be due to a recent upgrade - or maybe just a ghost in the machine.

I had a Logitech support person on this for 30 minutes yesterday, and they had NO CLUE what was wrong. Extraordinarily disappointing.

If I unpair my keyboard and re-pair it to my Mac Studio (running OS 14.5), the first screen grab works, but then all screen grabs after that are of the desktop, not of the actual area in the open window that I was attempting to grab. It's like it does not "see" the open window, only the desktop. If I unpair and then direct wire my keyboard (via USB-C) it still does not work ... not sure it is a blutooth-related issue.

WTF???

What you do not say is what macOS you were running on the " old MacBook Pro (2017)"
