Fingerprint not recognized

I signed up for lost phone protection without realizing I had to use fingerprint ID. My phone has never been able to recognize my finger ID and now I’m locked out of using my apps.

Sorry this has happened to you. We spent 4 hours on the phone with Apple support today because of the same issue. I think Apple made a fatal mistake by allowing the stolen phone protection to be activated WITHOUT requiring a fingerprint. We tried everything on the phone with support without success. Going to try to see if an expert in the store can find a solution. The bizarre part of this is the stolen phone “security” shouldn’t affect use of the phone at home or in familiar locations but sitting in our living room it still has us locked out of passwords and apps. Maybe someone at Apple will realize that they missed a step. It’s like letting someone drive off without the keys to a car and then once they stop requiring a key. The key should have been required to start the car in the first place…
