How to edit Song Placement in Playlists on iPhone 14 running IOS 17.4.1?

There appears to be a flaw in the update. The way you are supposed to do it is “edit” then slide the song up or down using the “press and hold to activate” method on the edge of the song. Now, when repositioned it fails to move the song. On a couple of occasions for me it has even duplicated the song in the new position, which if it worked consistently would be okish as I could then just delete the song instance in the original location.

After some explorative fiddling, it appears to be impacting long playlists more than short ones, and it appears to be affecting earlier songs in the list more than songs late in the list.
