Series 7 watch battery draining very quickly

Today, all of the sudden, my Apple Watch (Series 7, GPS, model A2473) is draining VERY quickly. Normally I can go all day and use 45 to 55% of my battery. Today I took it off its charger around 9AM, and by 1:30 or so, it gave me a Low Battery alert (10%) and told me I should put it in Low Power Mode. I put it back on its charger, and charged it up to 100% again, then 33 minutes ago took it off its charger, and it's back down to 89% -- see the attached picture.

What is going on? I rebooted the watch and the phone. I saw on Reddit where some folks were getting stuck in a "preparing update" mode, but while mine says the update is available, it's on the "Download and Install" phase, not the "preparing update" phase. I did turn off Automatic Updates, just in case that might be causing it.

iPhone 15 Pro is running iOS 7.4.1

Apple Watch Series 7 is running Watch OS 10.3.1

(Not sure it matters) but MacBook Pro M2 Pro is running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1

Any ideas?
