I am unable to install ios 15.8.2 update on iphone se 1st generation after successful download

I have downloaded the iOS 15.8.2 update on my iPhone 7plus but it refuses to be installed

Hi did you donwloaded the file on itunes or on other website? I checked the ipsw file website which shows that ios 15.8.2 is no longer available on 5th March 2024, which means you can't downgrade or upgrade with it even if you you downloaded the files or using iTunes.

The ios version you can go to depends on Apple offcial, if they unsign the file like ios 15.8.2 for iPhone se, and the ios 16 for ios 12, then you can't be updated or downgrade your phone to it, seems now you can only get ios 15.8.3 on your phone, so you can try it if you like.

But using the IPSW file from the web might be risky sometimes, you can just use official software like itune to get them on your phone:

Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your Mac - Apple Support (HK)

if you can't install ios 15.8.2 on iTunes, maybe your iTunes version is outdated:(Update iTunes on PC - Apple Support (HK)) or don't have a great connection with your phone or with the internet, you can change a cable or connect to another wifi to do this.

You might want to delete the download and try the update again

See this instructions on how to do that

1. Go to Settings > General > [Device name] Storage.
2. Find the update in the list of apps.
3. Tap the update, then tap Delete Update.
4. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and download the latest update.

Also, don’t waste your time deleting and re-downloading the update, it still won’t go through. And if entreating tells you to disable the passcode to get it to work, that’s a lie. The passcode is required to make your phone initialize the update (the one that doesn’t work), and without the passcode I t just tells you to enter the passcode that doesn’t exist.

You have an obsolete device(iPhone 5s). Updating it will only go so far. So, perform the update. If anything is avaiable, it will install, sure enough.
