Change iCloud+ payment method

I am unable to change the payment method for my iCloud+ subscription.

I have these payment methods associated:

The iCloud subscription is linked to the last one "Cartão Caixa Geral de Débito". I don't use that Card anymore and I want to change it to "ActivoBank Débito".

If I access the data of "Cartão Caixa Geral de Débito" card, the subscription appears associated:

But if I access 'Manage subscriptions', the subscription does not appear to me, so I can't change the payment method:

I also can't remove that payment method because the subscriptions is still active:

How do I change it?!

I already followed a couple of manuals, but nothing worked. Not even on Mac.

Thanks in advance.

It’s great that you posted these screenshots and provided as much detail as you did.

I am using iOS 17.4.1 (in the U.S.). I cannot find any screen entitled “Manage Payments” as your first screen shows.

I see this at Settings > [my Apple ID] > Payment & Shipping.

Sio what is your exact setup (iPhone model, iOS version, country - assuming this is from an iPhone)? And how did you navigate to a “Manage Payments” screen?

Thanks for your reply.

I even removed Apple pay and still couldn't change it the iCloud+ payment method.

I manage to put some money on that account so Apple could process the payment. Nevertheless, I sill can't change it to a different method.

But imagine that you have a payment method associated to your iCloud+ and you want to change. How do you do it?

I have never done it, but I would start by adding a new payment method to the one (and only one) I have shown above, then delete the obsolete method. Perhaps a reordering would be required between those two steps to make my newly added method the default.

There are two big points to make here:

  1. “I tried that but I still can't remove the [absolute] obsolete method because the iCloud+ subscription is still associated to that method.” The screenshot you posted contradicts this! It says you require “at least one payment”. So apparently you have tried to remove a payment method without having any other accepted method on file.
  2. “My main concerning is losing some data during this process. Could be a problem?” First of all, if you downgrade, that change would take effect after your current subscription ends. If you have more than 5GB of iCloud storage used at the time, data loss would result.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using an Iphone XR (17.4.1) in Portugal.

I accessed to "Manage Payments" directly from a notification that I have, precisely because the payment can't be processed:

Accessing to "Update Payment Details" leads me to here:

Accessing to "Update payment" leads me to the very first image of my previous post:

I can't see a way to manage my iCloud+ subscription in order to change the payment method.

I tried that but I still can't remove the absolute method because the iCloud+ subscription is still associated to that method.

I can't remove the method to set a new one.

But I can't manage the subscription in order to associate a new method.

I'm stuck.

At this point, the only solution that I think that might work is downgrade the iCloud plan to the free one. Maybe then I can remove the obsolete method and upgrade again the iCloud plan with a new method.

My main concerning is losing some data during this process. Could be a problem?
