Can Bootcamp Run work Without Fusion Drive

Hello all, I recently replaced the blade SSD in my 2TB Fusion Drive 2019 iMac with a larger 2TB version. I kept the existing 2TB disk hard drive in the enclosure so I could use it as storage device. I consequently split the Fusion Drive and now Mac OS runs exclusively on the newly installed 2TB blade SSD.

The rationale behind the upgrade was so that I could run bootcamp off the blade style SSD instead of the disk drive which was proving to be VERY slow. However the issue I’m running into now is that boot camp refuses to install. I’ve gotten as far as getting to the windows 10 install screen but then get errors about locating the partition etc.

I’ve done some research and it looks like I either have to recreate the Fusion Drive or physically remove the disk drive from the iMac. Can someone help me confirm that removal of the disc drive will work? I don’t wanna open up my iMac all over again for bootcamp to still not work. I don’t want to recreate the Fusion Drive because then windows would again install on the Fusion Drive so my upgrade would be useless.
