Download was fairly fast. Now it’s stuck on Preparing to Update.
Tried to reload.
Turned phone off and on.
Still a problem after 20 minutes.

I tried updating iOS 17.4.1 on the release day itself. I had the same issue, not the extended time, but it was stuck for some time. I researched several solutions that helped me and can help you fix your issue.
First, you should clear the unnecessary storage on your iPhone to give the updates more space.
Delete the downloaded file and try re-downloading it. However, make sure you have a good and stable Wi-Fi connection and sufficient storage space. Also, remember to delete the existing downloaded file. To delete an existing update file, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Find the Software update option > Delete update and confirm.
Try Resetting your Network Settings to resolve network glitches on your iPhone.
Also, you can update your iPhone from a Mac if you own a Mac.
