I’ve got pages on my iPhone 6s that’s been updated to iOS 15.8.2 but the app won’t open & says that the developer needs to update a version for it to work on this iOS version. So how do I go about retrieving my documents on the app?
I’d appreciate assistance.

There is a file manager on iOS 15.8.2. Use that to locate and move the Pages documents to iCloud Drive. You can access iCloud.com from a current web browser on Mac or Windows, signing in with your Apple ID. Then you have Pages for iCloud access to your documents.
I know that iOS 16 and 17 have a File manager named Files included with the operating system. I am assuming that same app is on your iOS 15.8.2 installation. Don't need a Mac for it to work on your iPhone.
Pages documents are renamed .zip containers. MS Windows will not treat them like Word documents, also zip renamed containers, but if you double-click on a Pages document in Windows, the operating system will attempt to unzip it. Beware.
Since you have a version of Pages that will not work on iOS 15.8.2, and there is no currently installable version of Pages available for iOS 15.8.2, then that leaves you with the Pages documents on your iPhone 6s local filesystem.
You can do nothing with them until in Settings, you tap your user name, click on iCloud and switch on iCloud Drive. Then the Files application will see iCloud Drive and you can then move your Pages documents to iCloud Drive.
Once the Pages documents are on iCloud Drive, you can access them from any Mac and copy them to a USB stick on a Mac or Windows computer for backup, and by using a current web browser you can also sign into Apple's iCloud dot com website and use Pages for iCloud on those documents. Even download them as Word or PDF documents.
Move the files to iCloud Drive, sign into iCloud, and use Pages for iCloud to open them. Or, open them on a Mac running Ventura or later where one can install Pages v13.2 (current) for Mac.
You would need iOS 16 or 17 to install a current version of Pages v13.2 for iOS from the App Store. That doesn't mean you cannot use a current version of Pages on iOS 15.8.2 unless your version of Pages prior to that iOS update is too old to work on the current version of iOS in the 6s. If that is the case, there is no means to get Pages for iOS that is compatible with iOS 15.8.2.

i do think that prior to the 15.8.2 iOS update pages did require an update but I didn’t do it. So how would I be able to obtain the files from the pages app as it’s not opening on the phone ?
How can I move the files to iCloud Drive as I’m not able to open the app, could you advise the best way.
i unfortunately don’t have a Mac therefore would have to retrieve it a different way via ICloud or can I retrieve it from another iPhone ?
Thank you for your time & kind assistance. I’ve opened my files app on the phone however the documents that I need to retrieve from pages isn’t on it, not sure why but I’ll try & connect my phone to the PC via iTunes & extract the files from pages. That should hopefully work.
Hi VikingOSX so I’ve tried syncing my phone to the PC to try access my pages documents on iTunes via the file sharing menu however it’s got nothing. Could you perhaps advise a step by step guide on how to do the iCloud backup for Pages as when I go to settings> tap my name at the top> select iCloud > select my device iPhone 6s> iCloud backup> backup now but it’s giving a message of insufficient space therefore Is there an option that I can only select pages to backup to iCloud?
I assume I’d be able to access the file manager if I connect my phone to a computer or can it also be accessed on the phone, if so how do I locate it ?
What would you then recommend the best way to go about it as the content on pages weren’t backed up to iCloud.
i doubt Apple would release an update for it to work on this software.
