Distorted audio from Apple TV after lastest update

Since update to tvOS 17.4 my Apple TV (A1625) is outputting dreadful audio. I have changed all cables (HDMI, coaxial form TV to DTS amp etc), used different TV's hi-fi systems etc, same problem persists only with the Apple TV. Audio is as if it is set at a very high line level that distorts terribly. This is a very serious and annoying problem that cannot be isolated to me only? Please let me know what I could do - I had no problems right up until yesterday.
