How to sort media in iMovie

When my iCloud library is opened in iMovie, the media is displayed in reverse order from my phone, so newest to oldest. (Newest at the top, oldest at the bottom.) I used to be able to sort it in iMovie, but that feature is grayed out. This makes it difficult to put multiple items into my iMovie because they will not be in chronological order. How can I fix this?

The photo thumbnails that you are seeing are not yet in iMovie because they have not been downloaded into a project or event. Therefore they cannot yet be sorted in iMovie. That’s why the sort options are grayed out. Place the photos into a project or an event and you will be able to sort them in the Project Media view or Media Browser view.
