Are Microsoft 365 Apps vs the Apple App Store versions on different software & security update schedules?

I found I was missing some extremely important Outlook emails. I noticed a post by Microsoft themselves stating there was a syncing issue and to update Microsoft Outlook. Long story short, I went on a rabbit hole only to find all the apps on my Mac are downloaded from Microsoft except Outlook. Further, my Microsoft Apps have very frequent security updates and my Outlook updates seldomly in comparison and not on the same days as the Microsoft apps when they update in unison. My updates were so delayed from when this issue was 'fixed' according to Microsoft.

I also read this post:

Microsoft Office 365 - App Store v Micros… - Apple Community

where murray_qeq says on 16SEP2021 @ 5:51pm that these app versions are a "personal preference" in complete contrast (ignoring) what the person responding to them suggested, without firm evidience.

Has anyone else been able to observe the two Microsoft app versions side by side and can confirm:

1. Evidence these different app versions don't have the same bug update schedules

2. Any additional useful evidence how the apps are different functionality wise (sans external stuff like Daisy).

I just want my emails on time and my bug fixes ASAP (my primary concern here) so I cannot miss important emails!!! Do I need to make a change to my app versions or no (won't help)?
