after I updated my phone to the new iOS 17 it froze. I already tried the whole volume up, down, power button method at least 8 times and it still won't work. please help

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:
(2) If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

i found a support answer that said to go to settings-general-about and under carrier it had an update option, so select that. We clicked that and locked the screen and the update began installing!
