Apple watch update to 17.4

My watch was a Christmas present and I've had zero issues with anything, including iOS updates.

Today, while attempting to update to 17.4, the update seems to freeze during the update, and stuck on "preparing".

Some three hours later, still preparing. Phone and watch connected to same WiFi, and both plugged in for power.

Suggestions?? What should I do??
