Display your Control Center screen on your iPhone by swiping down from the upper right hand corner of your phone screen. Then unlock the vertical orientation by clicking on the red button with the circular arrow and the little lock symbol in it.
Once its unlocked, rotate your phone horizontally and the screen will rotate to be a horizontal display. Then you can play your movie horizontally. If you rotate your phone with your hand back into the vertical position, the screen will rotate vertically again. You can lock the screen in a vertical orientation or a horizontal orientation by clicking on the orientation button in the Control Panel.

Since you are recording the movie horizontally, your recipients can play it horizontally on their phones. They don't need to play it vertically. They can just rotate their screens as I described in my earlier response to play it in full screen. Or, they can play it in their normal vertical configuration, that will display the horizontal movie, but just smaller in size.
If they play it vertically, it will look like this on their phone screen:

Thanks Rich, my real issue is that I want to make the move in I-movie on my MacBook air, and export it so that I can play it vertically to anyone I wish to share it with on their phones. I did see tutorial for this once but I didn't bookmark it which was dumb of me, because I can't find it now!!!!!
Regards Dave.
