How can I disable data detectors in Preview?

I am using Apple Preview to view my résumé in PDF format. I need to copy and paste contact information from my résumé into a job application. When I mouse over a phone number or a web address, it is highlighted by a data detector. This interferes with selecting the text for copying and pasting.

I looked in Preview –> Settings..., but this did not mention data detectors. I disabled System Settings –> Trackpad –> Point & Click –> Look up & data detectors, but this had no effect. How can I disable data detectors in Preview?

For more information, please see the question "Disable Data Detectors in Preview" on Apple Community. That question contains a screenshot showing a data detector highlighting a number. That question was archived, so I could not reply to it.
