Apple Pay, Unable to link card contact Card issuer for more information

This is not the first time I use Apple Pay I’m from Malaysia using Malayan Bank Maybank

Two weeks ago I got my new Visa card so I tried to add the card to Apple wallet and I am very sure this bank support Apple wallet and started from that day I’m unable to add card to my wallet At first I called Maybank and they try everything at their end which is

Reset my MSOS AKA THE OTP

THEY ALSO RESET THE TOKEN

For me and yet still not working so they sent an email to Apple and Walah Maybank told me Apple replied them asking me to wait for 24 hours and give another try so I wait it’s not working after 24 hours of waiting, so I contact Apple support ,and within this two week I have been hand over to 5 different agent the first one didn’t do any escalating just asked me to contact PNO payment network operator which is visa or master and yet Apple don’t have the contact number for me so I called the bank and the bank said they don’t even know what is PNO Walah ok , so I directly called to Visa and Visa told me to request turn on my visa 3ds and that’s the only conclusion they have so ok I called back to my bank and told them regarding this they told me it’s already on that is the merchant thing turn on default so nothing much I can do and not even related , I went to the bank next day I change my card to a master platinum debit card hopefully changing card can work after getting the card it’s still not working so I called to Apple and this agent it’s quite good diagnosed my phone didn’t found any issue and also asking me try to turn off advance, data protection in the settings I try all the troubleshooting just one last step I haven’t tried which is factory reset my phone , Apple have no solution so I did a few testing I use my mum phone link my card and that’s the first time I see my card in Apple wallet it’s beautiful but in my in mom phone! So never mind I’ve wait for another few days and giving another another try still not working I also tried to reset all settings reset network settings sign out of Apple ID and sign back in log into a different Apple ID check region and all the troubleshooting and no VPN


I feel horrible because when I go to the forum I realize this happening for quite some times and even some people are using the latest iPhone and yet months and months of waiting still haven’t solve !!! Apple telling me they are not blocking anyone to use Apple Pay but seems like I’m blocked or technical issues and please be informed I also called to the master debit company and Wallah me back to my bank

Note I’m able to add wise virtual visa card with no issue but as long as a casa account aka proper bank card it’s a same error, I even try with other card same error message

And there is an unusual error message pop-up if I keep adding Card it will say


Could Not Connect to Apple Pay

Apple Pay is temporarily unavailable.

It’s a little bit glitchy

Does anyone want to escalate this problem


Does anyone have this issue, please share your experience greatly appreciated

i tried reset whole phone again without restoring any backup.. end up able to add maybank card to apple wallet..mayb you all can try.. now i try to restoring back the backup see whether it will work again or not.. finger cross

My card was blocked on the first day. I got the card. Because I was So excited so I trying to add the cards more than usual and I believe I got blocked during the time after that is all the call and call and call I called Apple and Maybank done all the troubleshooting steps just one I haven’t performed, which is factory resetting my phone . And result is the problem wasn’t solved and I also tried to add my mom’s card to my phone. It’s also a Maybank debit card and it’s also showing the same error message. But her card can be added to her phone. So I tried to adding my card to my mom phone. And it’s successfully added . Means it’s not the card problem. Because it can be added to her phone. It’s iPhone a too , next experiment I perform is using my dad phone it’s an iPhone also, I login my Apple ID to his phone and add the card to his iPhone successfully , so that means it’s not Apple ID‘s problem too because my Apple ID works in a different iPhone , and the next thing I do was calling Maybank to reset the token just to take note if your card was added to too many devices there is a limit of 3 devices for a card if any of you have faced the difficulties you may try to reset the token with Maybank and if after resetting still not work then please look at my third experiment



after resetting the token from Maybank and waited for 24 hours I tried to link and remove Card for my mom’s phone trying to purposely getting blacklisted or block after a few try with my moms card and my card her phone successfully got blacklisted or block and when that happened you will receive the same error message unable to add card contact card issuer for more information I remember getting blocked was just few try of repeatedly remove and adding card , when you got block you will see unable to add any cards error message ,I don’t know about credit card but debit card definitely unable to add even my father’s card is also having the same error message in my moms phone , then I try to add my mom’s card to my my dad’s phone just to see is it because of the token and I’m sure it’s not because my mom’s card can add to my dad’s phone with no error message ,that comes into a conclusion


! Make sure to check is it because of token or blacklist block , Then after that I have waited a month ++ until yesterday, with no trying to add cards for a month above for my mom’s phone I successfully added my card and her card to her iPhone , that iPhone was purposely getting blocked a month ago and for my own phone I’m still unable to add Card because I do try at cards in the months. Period

For people who having this difficulties and error message

Contact Maybank or your bank to check with the token

Wait for 24 hours to confirm the token reset

If you still have the same error message saying unable to add card contact card issue please recall back did you ever try to add the card too many times in a day I’m referring to more than two times no matter its fail or successfully link if that’s the case please wait for 35 days and during the period of waiting please don’t try to add the card to your phone or any other cards that may effect the results after 35 days of waiting you may try to add the cards again but please take note I don’t have the accurate time. Of waiting. 35 day is just for safety. Because my mom’s phone. Didn’t perform adding any card. For more than a month. I don’t remember how many days of waiting if you have a bit more patience 40 days will be great and I believe after a month of waiting you are able to add the cards back again , I know this solution takes a lot of time but that’s the only way that I figure out is working

hi all, anyone manage to solve this issue? previously i was using iPhone 11 Pro Max and manage to bind Maybank debit card into wallet applepay, after happily using for the past 2years, i decided to upgrade my phone into iPhone 15 Pro Max, every went very well as i using icloud to transfer all my data to my new phone. Manage to get apple pay to work well in my new phone however yesterday i tried to unbind my Maybank to use different card but failed hence i try to rebind back to Maybank card but this time, it come out error Contact card issuer, damnnnnnnn... i tried call CS for 3times, reset 3time and change my debit card to another but still failed. now i tried to backup all the thing n whole phone reset but still same... sighhhh.. izzit bcoz of the 17.4.1 software issue or really just bcoz Maybank unable to use? Anyone tried other bank like Ambank or HSBC? Currently both bank i also not their customer yet.

I have talk with Maybank nearly a month Anyet they still unable to provide a resolution but luckily, I talk to one of the supervisor for the customer service . What will happen based on so many Call with them usually they will do the troubleshooting, which is resetting token resetting msos bla bla bla and the last is they will tell you they contact Apple I need to wait for 24 hours and same thing over and over again if you really focus when you talk to them you will realize they know nothing much about Apple Pay . Not to worry I have already launch a report to Maybank I suggest you request to talk to one of the supervisor I would give you the name preveen kumar he’s good in handling this ,although I haven’t solved the issue ,compare to other agent he’s a lot better you can request to talk to him if you call the Customer Service next time he might not in, but you can request for a call back and please don’t tell him where you get his name . I will continue give update. And if it’s solved I will ask for the reasons of this and make a share here

note I just realize it’s more than 5000 words so I have to divide it to part one and part two

My latest update is not recommended to contact Maybank is hopeless. I’m very sure. I have contact them more than a month. And have been handled over to more than 20 different customer service agent and now my case has been hand over to the Cfrm

The problem is Maybank don’t have the ability to unblock your cards for the risky device score that makes you unable to add your card to your Apple wallet or Apple Pay I personally have do a few experiment and found out what was happening behind


When you’re trying to link a card to Apple wallet usually you are able to link it because your seid was not in blacklist. And if for some reason. You trying to add and remove the card for a few times. In a row. Or if you unable to add the card, but you repeatedly adding you will get a blacklist but don’t worry it’s a temporary thing , I saw an article saying it’s a risky device score is a security measures when that have been triggered only PNO have to ability to remove the blacklist but for Maybank they unable to provide any information of the pno which is the payment network operator, and just for sharing Maybank is not the pno Maybank is psp payment service provider they only provide service but not the operator and based on what the Customer Service told me they also don’t have the power to contact payment network operators themselves so it’s a really negative thing for us because we are unable to release the blocking that causes us unable to add the cards . contact card issuer for more information error message pop up ,



And trust me, please calling Maybank is hopeless and helpless I have contacted them and different department I have changed my debit card and also not to mention all the troubleshooting steps , and if anyone who trying to contact Bank Negara it’s also useless I’ve called them. And they only give me an email which is referred Back to Maybank I also contacted pay net Malaysia also handle network payment but sadly not Apple Pay


but I have a positive result that I can share with you all brothers and sisters

Hi eddietan82 if after resetting token and msos still doesn’t work

sadly to inform your phone, seid might be in blacklist that causes the error message I have contacted Maybank for more than 20 customer service agent sadly none of them can solve this the only way recommended by me is to wait for a month of period at least 35 days best during the period don’t perform any adding cards to your wallet and also please do not remove any cart during the period too you should be unblock after a month I’m sorry that I’m unable to give an accurate time because during the experiment I didn’t record the time but definitely more than a month of waiting

you will be unblocked in a month or two if you didn’t perform any card adding or removing during the period



And if you really need to use Apple Pay I suggest you to use wise visa virtual card in Apple Pay it’s the only card that I can add to my wallet after the blocking you can consider in Malaysia

Yep, resetting the phone it’s a little bit scary if no back up you may try to wait for 35 days that’s what works for my mom’s phone you can wait for a month or two I know it’s a little bit long but that’s working for my mom phone compared to mine I’m still unable to because I keep on trying to add cards once in a week and my mom phone didn’t perform any adding for a month or two I’m sorry I didn’t know the accurate time so it’s like a month or two and it’s adding back with no problem for my card and hers


and if you are Malaysians you can try Wise virtual Visa card it’s the only card can be added after the blocking it’s not a bank that might be the reason why it can be added

Part 1

Hi here is an update and case closure for me I would like to inform struggling since January until June finally my Apple Pay work and I’m able to add card, after accounting this I have few solutions that I hope can help people who having this problems but I need to mention I’m in Malaysia different country, have different regulations and methods you can consider mine as well but not guarantee , funny part is I guarantee this not just happen in Malaysia not just you and me but tons of people I can see in forums and community so here’s my final solution suggestions a.k.a. based on my information please read the full story if you encounter such problems , people were having the same problems which is contact card issue for more information there will be a few reasons for this the 1. first one is the lucky one which is out of token if you ever try to link this card to Apple Pay more than three different device , or same device more than three times definitely that will be a token you need to go to your bank for example I called the Maybank and talk to them regarding this and they reset the token usually have to wait for 24 hours but make sure during the wait don’t try to link the card until 24 hours.2. The second one it’s what I encounter give a short story of mine before this I was using the MAE Card, which is like a prepaid card it’s not a proper Bank Card because I’m not a Maybank user but it can link to Apple Pay after using it for sometimes I went to Maybank open A casa account so that I can have the debit card after I open an account with Maybank I’m over excited I linked the card immediately to my Apple Pay which the erro message pop up card not added contact card issuer for more information during the time I believe it’s just because the data haven’t uploaded to Apple Pay since I was a new user so for people who open a new bank account or new card recommended to wait for one day or two at least , so when I saw the arrow message I make a mistake that I shouldn’t do which is I repeatedly adding the card these causes the block to to happen !!!! Here I provide some important information from one of the senior executive of Apple Pay that I communicate with in some country like US if you add a card too many times there will be an error message saying that we are suspended and there will be a date of suspension but in Malaysia here we don’t have such notification even if you add the card for tons of try that’s why it’s hard to know whether what causes us having this error, message

Based on the Apple senior executive usually the suspension will be around one week or two but that is not in my case . Strongly advise don’t try to add your card again and again after receiving the erro message although we fail to add but in the system, Apple and pno will have the data of suspicious, it’s called risky device score , usually when this happen the block is not to your card it’s to your seid , and for people who have talked to Apple and banks they’re trying to get away of the responsibilities , you may try to provide them more detail and make sure that your bank will contact Apple via email with your case number provided by Apple Senior executive which means you have to call to Apple and request them to escalate the case trouble shooting with you and diagnose your phone make sure it’s not device problem and they will definitely ask you to factory reset your phone, reason because it might be software issue but !!!!! don’t do that if you sure that you have added the card more than once , please go to part 2

The real reasons that Apple and Bank couldn’t solve this problem it’s because both of them have lack of communication that’s why it’s highly recommended file a case in Apple then then call the bank provide the bank the case number you got with Apple and make sure you talk to the bank about the detail what was happening in the beginning they will reset the MSOS and they will perform all the troubleshooting steps and the last thing sadly you reach to this point Bank will request you to change a new card which I think is unnecessary and make sure you provide Bank your SEID And wait for the bank to contact Apple that’s how I solve mine . The last thing Bank will ask you to wait for 24 hours. Don’t try to link the card during the period . There is a chance you will be removed from the blacklist


solution 2. This solution came up from my experiment with my mom phone my my mom is also using iPhone and Maybank user after I faced this error I begin to make an experiment with my mom phone. I tried to add and remove the card from my phone and reset token. To make sure her phone get banned. At last her phone got the same error message. Contact the card issue for more information. When this happen, I tried to link my card to my father’s phone link successfully means it’s not token problems but it’s a banned so when this happened I tried to wait for one week with my mom’s phone, not linking the card even once and it doesn’t work so after that, I try to wait another month, plus without perform anything in Apple Pay and Wallah the card link without a problem

I’m unable to give an exact timeframe, how long does it take? But for my mom phone it’s around one month plus a week that is also another solution that I found out works so final


1.If you are patient enough and lazy to talk to banks and Apple wait for one month don’t perform any linkage or anything in Apple Pay it will be released after the timeframe


2. If waiting for a month, it’s too long for you. Make sure. Call to Apple support. Talk to one of the senior advisor. Make sure they launch your case. And escalate. Ask them to diagnose your phone. And request for a case number. Call to your bank make sure to ask the bank to check for your seid , provide them the case number c given by Apple and provide them your phone model too ,make sure they escalate your case to the technical team , and make sure request them to contact Apple it is very, very important tell them there is a risky device score which causes the block.


and while waiting you may also check this few settings

general - about - device name make sure there is no emojis or special character all in alphabetical


Check your billing address make sure it’s all correct


Check if your time format and country is correct

lmao bro, I thought I am the only one having this issue with my Maybank debit card/Apple pay.


I just switched to Iphone15 from Iphone11. My Iphone11 was able to use the Apple pay just fine. Then when I switched to Iphone15, I couldn't link my debit card to my new Iphone15. So I went to remove the card from my Iphone11 wallet, but still, I couldn't link the debit card to my Iphone15. So I went to call Maybank for 5 times in 2 weeks and all the things they said are almost the same, "I have done something from my end, please try again in 1 hour blablabla". So I try googling for this issue, and here I am. I think I will give up using Apple pay la. Anyways, wish you luck! Also, do let me know if your issue is resolved, thanks!

me too… just received my new visa card and was trying to put it into apple wallet but it keeps showing “card not added”. Haven’t make a call to the bank, not sure if they will pick up call since today is PH. Anyway,, pls poke me if you are able to add the card. Cheers mate!
