An weird invisible usage for my storage

Hey there, I really hope an expert to help me with this I would be so grateful ,

I just bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max and then after about five days i had erased/factory reset it couple of times ( for couple of reasons I can’t mention), then I realise something pretty weird that during the set up process I found that green light of camera usage was On during all the set up process, which makes me very worried and if that’s even normal for all iPhones during the set up!! and after I done the set up of my iPhone after the factory reset I found out that the stock built-in apps in Home Screen all in grey and not available to open for about 10 minutes!!! until it finally had downloaded and even besides all that I found the storage of my iPhone specifically in the >settings >General >iPhone storage> on my iPhone storage it should be only 16 kb since it’s just formatted and literally I didn’t store anything in my iPhone yet , but unexpectedly this time it was about 5 MB and this usage capacity of (in my iPhone) some times during the day it increases to reach above 8 MB is used and some times it decrease to 4,3 MB or so , and that honestly makes me terrified of it could be all of this an sign of malware stored in my phone and that could by hidden malware stored there and whenever I open (on my IPhone) it shows me that it’s empty, especially that the battery performance not last long much as it was before, please any kind of help would be more then appreciated.

I had the similar issue of green dot appearing after doing “Reset all Settings”.

It’s just because my iphone 14 pro getting overheated and I did reset all settings.

I removed both sim cards from my iphone and did a reset.

After the restarting, it appeared the green dot for a minute when I was browsing the homescreen. I’m quite confused about it.

After checking usage history, it stated that the “settings” app used the camera.

I am not sure if this situation should be normal or not.

I hope it’s just a bug in ios 17 and apple will fix it later on.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience , that’s seems reassuring to the heart , especially yeah as i realise that the iOS 17 are full of bugs since lunched, I really hope it’s just an another bug of it as well as the other issues that i had faced after the factory reset as the used space on my iPhone that variable over time and totally invisible and empty when I opened it .

iPhones don't typically display storage capacity in Megabytes (MB) – it's usually Gigabytes (GB). Since you're setting up a new device and haven't restored from a backup, it's strange to see storage usage in MBs. There might be an underlying unsaid issue with the storage.

While Apple doesn't provide the exact amount of used space by the base system, it's typically around 10-15GB for iOS and essential bundled apps.

Therefore, depending on the specific model you got:

  • A 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max will have roughly 241GB - 246GB of usable storage available.
  • A 512GB iPhone 15 Pro Max will have around 500GB - 506GB of usable storage.
  • A 1TB iPhone 15 Pro Max will have approximately 980GB - 986GB of usable storage.

Im so thankful to you Mr.Sravan for your reply and help ,

just to clarify i was meant not the whole storage which appears in the top of iPhone storage page in settings, no i was meant specifically for the place of storage which named (on my iPhone) which the main storage path for any new saved files on the device, I will attach a screenshot of it

and it constantly keeps increasing, even though I didn’t download or store anything yet on my iPhone since I just factory reset it besides it was really weird that when I factory reset it and after the set up and took me to home screen it shows that the essential bundled apps in gray and can’t open it until above 10 minutes and I really afraid if is it a sign of Unerasable malware and stored on my iPhone!
