I recently saw the two months free advertisement for Apple TV as part of Lionel Messi's new documentary, but I seems to have hard time trying to redeem it.
I keep running into issue of the free period being valid only in other regions around the world... But not here in United States? Why bother advertising it if it not going to works anyhow???
I haven’t seen the offer that you describe. Who made that offer? Who advertised it? Where did you see it? You would have to redeem through them, exactly as they describe. Some exclusions may apply. What does the small print say? Was the offer time limited (redeem before …)?

The URL contains “EMEIA”, the business acronym for Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.
So presumably, that URL is a ‘landing page’ for an offer made for (select) markets in those parts of the world. It seems that excludes the US for this offer.
That’s all I can deduct from that. For further inquiry, you’d have to contact Apple directly.
Additionally, it does say that the offer is for “New and qualified returning subscribers only.” That probably means: not current subscribers, and not former subscribers that previously enjoyed an extended free trial.
[To me in Europe, a redeem attempt doesn’t mention country or region errors, but says that I do not qualify as a current subscriber.]

I previously saw the advertisement on Facebook, though I can't find the ad spot anymore. I searched via Google and came upon that link from an article. Hope that helps!
Same issue for me with this offer, even though I click on what is called the US link provided on one of the Mac news sites. Can't remember which.
