I have an old and slow iMac 2012 (intel) on Catalina sitting on my desk unused, next to an iMac M1 2021. Is there any update on ways to connect them to use the older iMac as a second screen? I know a few years back this was not possible - hoping there is an update to this. Thanks!

I just saw a video on possibility of connect using a video capture device and an app (quick capture) from the app store. Any idea if this could work?
I agree with hcsitas. Recycle the old iMac and don't look back.
If you wish to use a second monitor with your new iMac, you can find a new monitor for under US$100 if you do a quick search. Of course you can always spend more it you like. And a new monitor will be dead simple to use and much more energy efficient than using that old iMac.
No, unfortunately. Recycle for free at the nearest Apple Store. Under no circumstances should you donate to charity/relative/colleague/friend/boss/subordinate/child. All have long memories.
