Power Query in Excel for Mac does not pull data from the web / TXT files won't convert into IQY

Hello all,

I often import data from the web into Excel for Mac using power query. I have done it multiple times using the same process, which has worked fine until recently. The process is as follows:

1) copy webpage URL that contains data I want to import.

2) Paste URL into Word for Mac, pressing enter to create a hyperlink.

3) Save as a Plain Text (.txt) file, using MS-DOS text encoding settings.

4) Locate .txt file in finder, right click on file, select "Get info", under "Name & Extension" replace .txt with .iqy

5) open Excel for Mac, select Data from the top ribbon, go to "Get Data ( Power Query), Run Web Query, then select the file I just saved containing the URL.

At this point in Excel, I receive the following message "Unable to open {URL}. Cannot locate the internet server or proxy server."

A few things that I have noticed, when I do this same process with older files that I do know work and have used, they no longer pull data and give the same message. Additionally, older files that have been changed to contain the .iqy extension no longer have it.

I have tried using TextEdit as a remedy but yielded the same results. I read online under other help forums that it might be a proxy issue but admittedly do not know enough to do anything with this information.

I have a 2017 13In MacBook Pro with MacOS Ventura. Any insight into this would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
