How to make a huge Mail emoji smaller
This is a very annoying relatively recent OSX change - at least for my M1 Chip Mac. It used to be when you dropped in a smiley face in Mail the font size was normal text size - in my case font size 18. Sometime recently, Apple changed that so now when you click on an emoji to insert, it shows up huge - in my case font size 48. One way to fix it is the cumbersome way of highlighting it and changing the font size via the menus, but that is a real hassle. I finally found a better answer, so this is not a question but hopefully a post that will help others who may have this question, . One poster noted in another thread if you add either more than three emojis - or follow the now huge emoji with any 2 or 3 characters, the emoji size returns to normal. After tinkering I eventually realized that after the single large emoji is first inserted, all you have to do is hit the space bar three times and it goes back to normal. Try to find any of this anywhere in settings. If there is a setting where you can stop the large emoji from appearing in the first place, I'm all ears.
