After a Feb. 2024 update, my Apple Watch stopped recording sleep data other than the flat green line for time in bed. My watch is fully charged at bedtime. My iPhone is by my bed, as always.

But I don’t have a regular sleep schedule. Yes, I know it’s ideal but it isn’t how many of us live. The watch should recognize and record when I am actually asleep, not just when it has contracted with me to be asleep. Late nights happen! Followed by a healthy nap the next day. And what about shift workers?
I had this issue, too. Turns out you HAVE to have a sleep schedule specified that encompasses the time you spend in bed/asleep or the watch will not record sleep events. I entered a schedule and the sleep recording resumed.
