Unable to turn off Safari closed captioning while watching content on Vudu.com

New MacBook Pro M3 user here, Safari 17.3.1, and Sonoma 14.3.1... Attempting to watch video content through Vudu.com, I am unable to remove the closed captioning which is seemingly auto-added by Safari. If I turn on Closed Captions in the Vudu player, I then see two sets of captions, one from Vudu, the other from Safari (see screenshot).

I have already verified that all closed captions options are deactivated in System Settings > Accessibility, but I cannot get rid of them in Safari during Vudu playback.

This does not occur with any other video content such as Youtube, Hulu, or Amazon Prime.

Has anyone else experienced and been able to resolve this issue?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.3

Ok, just fixed it.

System Preferences>Accessibility>Captions, and turn off "Prefer closed captions and SDH." If this is already off, as it was for me, try toggling it on, and off again.

I did this while the video was playing and it fixed it for me.
