When using MS Word for Mac, can I insert the page number in the footer of my document, but I can not insert the total page count next to it. I need help to insert the total page count. There is no dropdown, checkbox, or functionality to include the TOTAL PAGE COUNT with the page number. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot over???

That is the same version of Word that I am using.
Note that for some reason (which seems completely unintuitive to me), Microsoft does not have the Page X of Y option with the rest of the page numbering options. It is completely separate from Insert > Page Numbers.
Try the following:
Open a new Word document, click the View menu, click "Header & Footer", click in the document in the Footer area so that the insertion point is in the Footer..
Click the Insert menu, click "AutoText", click "Page X of Y."

I am using MS Word for Mac, version 16.81. In this version of Word, there are only three options for inserting the page number, irrespective of where the Page Number function is accessed. There is no AutoText functionality. The three Page Number functions available are Page Number, Format Page Number, and Remove Page Numbers. The functionality available under Pager Number consists of only top, bottom, left, center, and right. The functionality available under Format Page Number only consists of Number Format, Include Chapter Number, and Page Numbering. The Number Format options only consist of 1,2,3, a,b,c, etc. The Include Chapter Number will not work because the document is a stand-alone document without chapters and, therefore, irrelevant. Lastly, the Page Numbering function has two radio button options: Continue from the previous section and Start at. There is no Page Count functionality - to add the page count that I am aware of - in this version of Word for Mac, hence my request for assistance.
Instead of using Insert menu > Page Numbers, open the footer and then use Insert menu > AutoText > Page X of Y
