Does it mean I have a virus?
No that has nothing to do with virus.
This has to do with templates in your macros as outline in the screenshot you posted.
Are you using a company account, if so report it to your IT administrator.

so you created that document and got that message?
Since you didn't receive it from someone and you don't work for a company that uses Word, your next step is to contact Microsoft support or look at their help site, since Word is their product.
No it isn't, and when I got to the relevant support page on line—confession—I did not feel confident that I could understand all that it suggested.
Now the unexpected part—the problem has gone away. But this may be connected with what I did do, which was to work out what day it had started, to search for all the items that were added to the device on that day but not by me, and to delete them.
Thank you for your help: the technicalities will remain a mystery to me, and I am grateful for your taking the time to reply.

Thank you! No, it's my personal Mac.
Have you any advice on getting rid of it?

Is this a document you created or you got it from someone else?
I have not recently had any documents from elsewhere.
Correction—I received one from my brother, a few days ago.
Is it possible for me to restore the Word app as it was last week, from Time Machine?

is that what Microsoft support told you to do when you contacted them?
