Ever since I have updated my Macbook to MacOS 12.7.3, when I close my laptop and effectively leave it to sleep, I have come back to it overheating unless I do a complete shutdown

Same here, my Macbook Pro never overheats since I mostly work on text editors and web browsers, and today as soon as I installed Mac OS Monterey 12.7.3 it started overheating and drained my whole battery (which is fairly healthy) in like 15 minutes.

If this is them trying to get me to update to a new Macbook when my current one is perfectly fine, I will purposefully just never buy a Macbook again...

I have MacBook Pro 2016 with a touch bar. And I have the same problem of overheating and battery drainage since I installed Mac OS Monterey 12.7.3. So far the following websites are most informative, but I can't solve the problem. These website has more links for specific issues.

Now I am going back and forth between "Safe Mode" and "Regular Mode" back and forth.
