High Mobile / Cell Data usage system services software update

I have turned off all iOS operating system related automated updates and downloads.

I have turned off all App Store automated downloads and turned off using mobile data for App Store Downloads.

I have set Low Data Mode in Mobile Data settings.

Yet, iOS is using 900mb so far this month on system services software updates. See screenshot.

I have reported already via Apple Feedback.

To the “Community Experts”: I am not looking for one of your lengthy and very friendly messages that repeat my concerns, acknowledge my emotions, and then paste articles to knowledge base articles. I am looking for real help from real people that are engaging in the issue, have the same experience and found a solution possibly.

There’s a longer living thread here:

No solutions yet.

I’d encourage everyone with this issue to fill out an Apple Feedback form:

  • Today, another 150MB were used by Software Update, even all of the above mentioned settings were off. Additionally I had turned off mobile data for “Settings”. But that didn’t help.

For everyone who has that problem: there’s an indication that this could be related to using Apple Maps in active navigation mode.

I am testing at the moment if this issue persists when not using Apple Maps at all. In fact I’ve deleted Apple Maps for now. And am back to Google Maps for car navigation.

So far I haven’t seen data usage increase logged under Software Updates.
