Can't Edit Shared Calendar from Outlook.com after Upgrading to iOS 17

Prior to upgrading my iPhone to iOS 17, I was able to add events to a shared calendar (outlook email account) with my wife without issue. After upgrading to iOS 17, all events on my calendar on my iPhone are un-editable. The only thing I can do is indicate accept, maybe, or decline. The invitation shows as being sent from my wife and me as the invitee, even though I can create the event on my iPhone, iPad, or Laptop. I have logged into my online account on my laptop and am able to edit/modify the events just fine, but don't see the similar experience as the event coming from a "third party" that I'd need to accept. My iPad is not on iOS 17 and I can create/modify events without issue. I am logged in with the same Apple ID and Outlook account on all devices. I have also made sure my contact card on my iPhone has the address I use for my email and we've verified I have "edit" permissions on this calendar. I've tried removing the account, rebooting my phone, re-adding, etc. multiple times and nothing works. Apple indicated this is not their issue, but a Microsoft issue. What can I do to resolve this issue?

I can confirm that with a shared Outlook calendar, if my wife adds an event to that calendar from her iPhone (iOS 17.1) it immediately appears as if I invited her to the event, and she only has the options to accept/maybe/decline the event. She cannot remove or edit it. Actually, it auto accepts the event.

Same thing happened to me. I have a team outlook calendar that we collaborate on every day and now when my team puts events or anything into the outlook calendar through the iPhone calendar as soon as it syncs with my outlook calendar they can no longer edit and it shows up as a meeting invite from me. We did find that if they go to outlook online they have full and regular permissions. This started as soon as I updated to iOS 17

Responding to your post from 19 hours ago… I spent a couple of hours online today with Apple support, first via a chat, which was useless, and then, with a more senior person. He was a lot more helpful, but in the end, no solution to the exact same problem you’re having. This problem started once my iPhone updated to iOS 17.2.1 and now, 17.3. I believe this is an Apple problem and I wish they would fix it. They seem to want to blame it on Microsoft.

I found the solution on a Microsoft forum and I can confirm it works. Here’s what the original poster said:

I searched on every forum on internet and eventually end up fixing this by disabling location suggestions in iPhone Calendar is a straightforward process. Here's how to do it:-

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Scroll down and tap on Calendar.

3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Calendar settings.

4. Look for the option labeled Location Suggestions.

5. Toggle the switch next to Location Suggestions to the OFF position.

More effective instruction below.
