Time Machine has no Add Backup Disk option

I have used Time Machine before and it worked fine. Now the backup disk is full and I want to add my new backup disk. But there is no option to add a backup disk. The only option is Other Airport Time Capsule. The new disk is visible in the Finder and I can see it under Exclude in Time Machine Options. Please help me on how to add my new disk. Thanks.

Many external drives are formatted as NTFS by default. Try using Disk Utility to erase the physical external drive as GUID and APFS (top option). Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the physical drive appears on the left pane of Disk Utility.

I don't use TM, but I believe this should allow the drive to be seen as a valid choice for TM although TM will likely erase the drive so it is encrypted.
