Is apple pay secure?

yesterday I made a purchase from well known brand app (sports company) using my iphone and everything went as usual and that was my only purchase this day. The next day I was surprised by several attempts on my apple pay to purchase from the same app (declined by the way) ! I was surprised as it was through apple pay not the bank ! Did somebody hack my apple pay? What do I have to do? I paused the card from the bank but is this going to happen again? Is this normal? Do I have to cancel the card? Please help

iPhone X, iOS 14

Apple Pay cannot be hacked. Is simply a payment conduit. There is nothing to hack.

And even if it was, your card numbers and details are not stored in the Wallet App. That's part of the security.

The app you used has no access to your card number or details and only receives confirmation of the payment having been processed by your own card issuer, and no one else.

Not entirely sure what you are seeing, but you may be misinterpreting what happened.

Where are you seeing attempts exactly?

What do the say they are for? When Apple Pay is used, the merchant should appear fo each charge that was made through Apple Pay.

Hard to say with no further details.

If you made a purchase from an app using Apple Pay pressing the Apple Pay button in the App) that would appear in your Wallet under your card as a recent charge.

Were the additional charges for the same amount? Different amounts?

Did you press on something else? Maybe make multiple purchases?

Maybe you selected a bundle, that had multiple purchases on it. Hard to say really.

What app was this? What did you buy? (if its not too personal)?

The app should also list all you purchases for it, so should tell you what any other charge may have been for,.

I had over 20 unauthorized charges on my Apple Virtual Card this week. The charges were from Facebook Pay to several different merchants. I disputed the charges and received $ back temporarily as the dispute process proceeds. I don’t know how this happened. I don’t use FB to pay for anything and my info is not stored in FB. I have since deleted my Apple Card from my Apple Wallet. But if this happens again, i may not receive a transaction notification since I deleted the card.
