Sleep focus restarts at first unlock after turning off in the morning

I set my wake up alarm in Health Settings & Sleep Focus; alarm goes off on the iPhone 11 Pro & Apple Watch 9 as scheduled; I turn it off and can see that the focus turned off. At first phone unlock the iPhone AND the Apple Watch go back to Sleep Focus. At this point I turn the sleep focus off in control center and all is good until next morning. This problem started after pairing a new Apple Watch 9. All was OK when using AW 4.

This is happening to me too - got an Apple Watch 6 at Christmas and it is having this effect on my iPhone 13. Previously no issue with my series 1 Apple Watch. I messaged Apple and they recommended factory resetting every device connected to my Apple ID - something I’m not willing to do yet as it includes my work laptop! Really want an answer to this. Disabling sleep schedule for now and just manually toggling it on/ off. But I miss the wind down function and automatic light dimming etc.

UPDATE: I have figured out a way to fix it!

1) Delete all of your sleep schedules and associated data. You don’t have to delete your actual Sleep Data/ tracking, just anything to do with sleep focus itself.

2) Unpair and reset your Apple Watch using your iPhone.

3) Re-pair your Apple Watch and choose “restore from back-up”. Pick your most recent backup.

4) Make a brand new sleep schedule.

Bonus: this also fixed an issue I was having where my watch refused to accept my new debit cards for Apple Pay!

I tried a factory reset without restoring from backup and the problem wasn’t fixed. I don’t know why.

If it comes back, I’ll come back again and update.
