Unable to adjust brightness

I am using a mac book pro from June 2012 with bootcamp running windows 10. While on windows I have no means of adjusting the brightness. The buttons work and although the brightness is adjusted the screen is not affected. the same goes for using the windows setting to adjust the brightness. This is annoying as the screen is not very bright, so hard to see in the day and too bright in the dark at night. I have tried updating drivers, which are up to date and I have verified that the monitor is enabled.
