Contact Photo and Poster (Cached / Blocked?)

Does anyone know if someone's contact photo and poster will display on my phone if I was blocked by them?

Also, does anyone know if this data is cached? When I delete the contact, put the phone in airplane mode, add the contact, the contact photo and poster appears again even though I'm not connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17

If someone has blocked you on their iPhone, you won't see their contact photo, status updates, or any changes they make to their profile, including a poster if they're using it in iMessage. The blocking feature restricts these visibility options to maintain the block's privacy.

Regarding cached data, it's possible that your phone could retain some cached information even when in airplane mode or without an active data connection. Sometimes, phones store contact information and associated media locally, which could explain why you might see the contact photo and poster again even without an internet connection. This cached data might persist until you clear the cache or reset certain settings.

However, the behavior of cached data can vary between different phone models and operating system versions. If you're concerned about privacy or unwanted data appearing, you might consider checking your phone's settings to clear cache or reset specific data related to contacts and messaging apps.

I’m don’t think that’s true.. I’m blocked and contact card looks the same.. all photos ,messages are still there.. one difference tho.. wasn’t sure if blocked.. sent a iMessage (came back with red not delivered had option to send as text, which I did, sent as text message with timestamp.. then I looked at contact card after sending and the toggles for read receipts and location were not there anymore.. but all other things were there.. I think if blocked contact card reverts back to what it was before blocking then after attempting to send a message it goes into blocked again.. not sure but this is what happened with me..

What's displayed to others during a call is based on what they've saved in their contact list, not what you've specifically shared through Message settings.

When you utilize the Photo Sharing feature within the Message app, the recipient might have the ability to save that photo and associate it with your contact information. Unfortunately, this isn't something you can modify or control once it's stored on their end.

Nevertheless, you retain the power to discontinue sharing your photos through messages at any given moment. This allows you to manage the ongoing distribution of your images through that particular channel.

However you can stop sharing your Photos through messages anytime.

Please see the pic below which is self-explanatory.

If your iMessages are saying delivered then you are not blocked. As far as seeing the contacts photo and poster, you’re not blocked. I was blocked recently by my ex and her photo and poster was gone. She unblocked me a few hours later and it came back. I haven’t sent a text for over 3 weeks now and I never will again. Temporarily blocking someone sometimes just means they’re upset with you for a short period of time. Of course if you’re blocked for a long time then they’re more than likely done with you.
