iPhone 11 freezing after 17.2.1 release

My daughter has the same issue on her iPhone 11. The screen also blacks out and when it decides to come back on, all of the apps that were open appear blacked out, too. I tried resetting it using the up volume, down volume, then holding the power button until it restarted, but this did not resolve the issue. I even tried clearing the cache in Safari in an attempt to troubleshoot. She can no longer upgrade the operating system. Is this Apple’s attempt to phase out the 11s so people will buy a newer model?

If not, what else do you suggest we try?

Try and force restart it to see if the issues persist

1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button.
4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

I'm experiencing same problems, after iOS 17.2.1 update on my iPhone XS Max:

• Frequent freeze/crash in Apple Calendar app -- especially if I select an appointment for details/edit
• Inability to search Contacts
• Set-up ("connecting...") for outbound calls takes > 30 seconds

Thanks for instructions to perform iPhone "hard re-start." Makes no difference.

Other actions that have made no difference:

• Reset network settings
• Substantial reduction of Contacts duplicates and overall Contacts entries
• Settings->Contacts->Siri&Search: Turn off "Show App in Search" and "Show Contact Suggestions"
