Airtag left behind notifications on IPhone 12 not working

Hello there, my AirTag on my dog’s collar is connected to an iPhone 12 and has never alerted me when the connection is lost or separated.

I followed a few trouble shooting instructions and checked

• Notification settings
• ICloud settings
• Apple ID settings
• Exception settings for locations
• Location settings
• Toggled everything off/on
• Restarted phone
• Rebooted AirTag
• Focus settings checked
• Separation alerts on etc.

I am able to track it when it’s close to me, ie. we’re at home. But when I seperate from it, there are no alerts and the tracking is gone. ie. left the dog somewhere (I have removed my home address from the exception list and still no alert when I go out).

I played around with it and the Findmy app just shows the status as the last seen one with so-and-so many minutes passed.

I waited a long time but never any notification.

Please help?
