Macbook Pro with Studio Display - Mouse not working when lid is closed

I have been using same setup for some time, with Macbook Pro M1 and Apple Studio Display. But as of about 10 days ago, when I close the lid, the mouse and other peripherals stop working (keyboard and trackpad). Works with lid slightly open and also after a reboot.

Only changes made recently were updates to Sonoma....now running 14.2.1

I get this issue too, as soon as I close the lid my magic keyboard and magic trackpad both stop responding.
