battery draining rapidly since 17.2 update

I have an iphone 13 and have had NO issues with the phone or battery performance..THEN I UPGRADED TO 17.2 and holy crap what a difference.. I had a full 100 % charge at 10:40 pm, the next morning at 10 am my battery was at 59%... I was shocked as the phone "sleeps" overnight and I had only 58 minutes screen time viewing pictures , sending a text, very little usage.. I called apple support and was on the phone for 30 minutes..during the call my battery dropped from 59% to 51%.. The gal from tech support was surprised as well, we did the diagnostic thIng, battery was "normal , she could offer no solution and when she did some checking stated that Apple has received "tons" of complaints about the battery draining rapidly.. She said Apple should be working on the issue and have another update to correct the issue, unfortunately there is no timeline for a correction.. I was very disappointed as there is no way to resolve this issue currently....NOT HAPPY !!!!!

I sat here and watched my phone go from 100% to 82% in under 10 minutes. I had zero issues with my battery before the 17.2 update. I have an older phone as well and this is what Apple does. They do an update that screws up the old phones to where you have to go get a new one. This isn’t their first rodeo with this situation and it’s extremely frustrating. This happened before a few years ago with Apple when they did an update, and they intentionally messed up all the older iPhones to where you had to go get a new one. They played this game before.

Well I agree on this at some point, I have purchased my Iphone 14pro max in March 2023 not even 1 year has been completed, my battery is good phone is functioning fine and the battery life was more then decent so far. Just updated to 17.2.1 and BOOM!!! My phone is going from 100% to 50% in 8 hours when I am at office and just using whatsapp. Apple really need to test the updates before sending it to users.

As an update to the battery issue mentioned above I shut down my phone, then rebooted it.. I charged it to 100% before bedtime.. In the morning I checked my phone and it was still 100%.. 6 hrs later it is showing 87%.. hopefully the issue has been pretty well resolved by doing the shut down and reboot... Have no idea why that would make a difference but so far so good...

I AKLREADY DID SOME TOUBLESHOOTING AND IT DID NOTHING. I CAME ALKRADY WITH A COMCLUSION THIS IS NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE LIKE REPLACING THE BATTERY OR MOTHERBOARD SPECIALLY BATTERY. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THE SOFTware is broken and i been seen comments thta i t happend to them with ios 17.1 or somthing like that but for me it happended with ios 17.2.1 hopefully apple fixes this issues but i wonder how are they going to install a patch or update since the phones turn off so fast.

Very true !!! I use iPhone 14, before 17.2 upgrade battery was ok but now battery draining drastically. I have followed all the steps and tricks shared in you tube but no luck. Finally I found one last alternative is to turn off mobile data and WiFi. If I turn on, again battery is draining. I am facing this second time now. Hope new update may fix this issue. Please do keep an eye on Battery Health also, it will significantly drop

I have exactly the same. This is ridiculous. It's the same with my MacBook after installing Mac OS Sonoma. I am really considering leaving the Apple ecosystem. I own Apple devices with a value way north of 5,000 USD and I always bought the biggest version especially for battery life, and Apple just managed to destroy that value within a few weeks with bad software updates. For anyone having the same issues with the iPhone: Check out the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Looks like a way better way to go. Apple is not what it once was.

Updated to 17.2 on my SE 2022 a few days ago and today i charged it to 100% overnight and before i got to work it was at 87%. not too bad, seemed fine. had it in my pocket on silent and checked the time 2hrs into my shift and saw that it was on 2%...absolutely ridiculous. Charged it up to 92% for the remainder of my 5hr shift and just between 5pm and 7:30pm it is once again down to 15%. going to try rebooting my phone and charging it up tonight and we'll see if it does better tomorrow.

My phone is in such prestigious condition… my battery all of a sudden is dead by end of day when I have not used it much, I shut down background apps and everything.

Replacing a phone less than 3 years old at this cost point due to upgrades designed to drain my battery to coherence me into buying a newer model will have me leaving Apple products. Facts - will switch my entire family of 5 from Apple
