HomePods connecting to wrong WiFi network - how to tell it to forget?

I have a couple of Wifi networks in the house and, for some reason, the homepods keep deciding that they like network A (the network provided by our broadband router) even though I prefer network B (a mesh system). How can I tell it never to use network A?

Note that I don't want my iPhone to forget about network A - there could be reasons I want the iPhone to use it, but I don't want those pesky little spheres to thing that just because it's OK for the iPhone, it's OK for them!

Having spoken to a member of Apple support on the phone, it seems that there may be a bit of a bug in the way that the homepods select their wifi network. I think they generally select the one that they know (have credentials for) that has the strongest signal. However, if they get onto a different wifi network, they lose the ability to control the homekit accessories (which are on a weaker but wider mesh network).

Seems a bit odd, and so what I've done for now is just to remove that strong (but unmeshed) wifi network from my iPhone's memory (which is where the Homepods get their knowledge of wifi networks from). Problem seems to have gone away, although it slightly cramps my style for the phone's options.

what finally seemed to work for me was using my iPhone to play Music thru my Homepod. the iPhone was on the old wifi; i switched that & went to the Home app, which said i had a wifi mismatch. i tapped that, nothing happened, but eventually it seemed to sort itself out.

i only had the problem because i have 2 wifi networks for a time. unable to drop the old one yet; the wiring of this apartment is not user-friendly.
