Apple Watch Series 9 band

I just purchased my apple watch and the band is flimsy, I have used apple watch for years and never had a band like this one. It keeps falling and coming off, no matter how I put it on my wrist. The apple rep told me this would be an out of pocket expense for me. Why am I being forced to purchase another band when I could use the one that came with my watch? This is not fair considering the band prices Apple has and the money I already spend at the Apple store each year.
