imovie must complete other task before performing this operation

I have a MacBook Air M2 and I'm relatively new to all Apple products. I am playing around with iMovie and I am still learning.

I am trying to exit the application, when I get the message "iMovie must complete other task before performing this operation". I'm not sure what to do to exit the application. Also, in order to avoid receiving this message in the future, is there something that I am doing wrong?

Thank you in advance!!!

You are doing nothing wrong. It is common for iMovie to do some housekeeping tasks before closing. iMovie is just catching up with some edits that you did in real time, to make them quicker to access when you reopen. Just wait until they finish. If you want to close sooner, do an Apple Logo/Force Quit of the iMovie app, and that will stop the process. No harm will be done. Your edits will be preserved, as they are already logged into the app.
